The Tasmanian Government Railways Z class derived much of their design from the earlier Western Australian Government Railways R and RA classes. RA1918 - the last of the WAGR locomotives and the locomotive completed by GEC at Rocklea immediate before Z1 - is preserved at Rail Heritage WAs Bassendean Museum where it was photographed in June 2018
