After some success in export and industrial orders (including six V class for the Tasmanian Government Railways), Drewry Car Co and Vulcan Foundry eventually supplied a number of orders (totalling 142 locomotives) to the British Railways. <br>Loco D2207 - one of the second batch - was constructed in 1953 and has many similarities to the Mt Lyell locomotives built in that year. It is preserved on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and was photographed at Pickering in September 2019.
