The large number of 1300 class purchased mean there was never a shortage of the locos in Launceston in differing states. Stored locomotives ZC43, ZC22, ZC41, ZC28 and ZC35 sit in the old roundhouse at Launceston in May 1990. ZC43 would return to service, ZC22 & ZC41 would become MKA locomotives in Africa, while the other two locos would be scrapped after barely a year of service each in Tasmania
