Unlike the first four locomotives, No. 5 was constructed by the North British Locomotive Company which had by then taken over Dubs & Company. The circular builder plate identifies the locomotive as a product of the former Neilson, Reid & Companys Hyde Park Works which had also become part of the NBL Co, rather than the former Dubs & Co Queens Park Works factory where the first four loco had been built.
