August 2010
- DQ2001 becomes the first loco painted in the new orange & grey livery
- After a long period in storage following a series of derailments, ZR2101 is returned to service for a number of trials
July 2010
- It is announced that trains will return to Bell Bay in September following changes to shipping services
May 2010
- A new name and logo are adopted for the state owned System - TasRail
January 2010
- Freight trains to Bell Bay and Launceston are cancelled, ceasing all commercial services in the Launceston area for the first time in over 140 years. As part of these changes there is no longer an evening departure from Hobart – another service which dated back to the early days of Tasmanian railways
December 2009
- The Tasmanian government officially takes over ownership of the system from Asciano Limited (the owners of Pacific National), returning the operations and infrastructure to common ownership
