The Derwent Valley Railway Preservation Society was formed with the aim of continuing the passenger excursion trains formerly operated by the Tasmanian Locomotive Company on the Derwent Valley Line. The society was initially based at Claremont, near Hobart, but moved its rolling stock to a new site at New Norfolk, 38 km northwest of Hobart, in 1994. The society aims to reopen the currently disused Derwent Valley branch line and run regular trains to National Park. At present no trains are operated.
