In 2008 a consortium involving Queensland Railways was given contracts to perform track maintenance works on the newly government controlled system. As well as track machines, a rake of ballast wagons from Queensland were brought in rather than using the motley collection of wagons in Tasmania.
In service, the wagons were used in a mixed rake with the ex TGR/EBR ZH wagons, and hauled by Pacific National locomotives.
