New Town was built by Max Chandler as a replacement for the Green Ponds layout. It is based on New Town station which is in the Hobart suburban area, allowing a double track layout. Construction was of fairly conventional design, and track included two ovals, a rear fiddle yard and the various sidings featured in the prototype. The layout has since been disposed of.
